Argiano Non Confunditur 2019

Non Confunditur’ is a Latin term that means unique or unmistakable. A blend of French and Italian grapes, this is a 'Supertuscan' for an IGT price. Well-structured with concentrated, red and black fruits with lovely integrated and smooth tannins. A great value wine from an historic and revered producer in Tuscany.

The wine is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 30% Syrah and Sangiovese Grosso, vinified separately. Before blending, the wines are aged for 6 months in one year-old French barriques or two-year-old tonneaux.

I couldn’t resist these tasting notes from Luca Gardini, who gives the wines 94+:

"As the Argiano’s crew used to say, a ‘baby Supertuscan’, one of the most exciting blends of the new Tuscan wave. Cabernet Sauvignon in a leading role, at 50%, then Sangiovese 25%, Merlot 20%, Petit Verdot 5%, sour cherries under spirit, peony, hints of undergrowth at the nose, the mouthfeel is also intense, dense, fruity, with brackish tannins and a balsamic scent that reappears in the aftertaste."
