Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits 'La Roche', Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair 2017

Some of you already know Thibault's wonderful "Deux Terres", a Whitfield Wines favourite since the beginning, and an exciting, heady hybrid between burgundy and Beaujolais.

I am so excited to have this new edition to Whitfield Wines.

The Côtes des Nuits ‘La Roche’, bottled as a humble CdN, is in fact from a single site which sits at the top of the NSG slope, around 400m altitude.

One of the great values in the Liger-Belair stable, the Hautes Côtes de Nuits "La Roche" is made from a parcel planted in 1978 on flint and Chaille limestone. At that elevation of 400 metres, this is one of the highest vineyards in the Côtes de Nuits, yielding a wine of bright and elegant personality. Tart red cherries and strawberries define the fruit profile, while the tense and ever-present line of minerality gives a transparent signature of this terroir.

This is a very special wine at an accessible price from a great year in Côtes des Nuits.
