Jean Charles Fagot is literally a rockstar wine maker. He is a gifted musician and plays the drums in a rock band made up of vignerons and restaurateurs, which he can also claim to be as he is also the proprietor of the delightful ‘Auberge du Vieux Vigneron’ brasserie in Corpeau where he can be found entertaining his customers most evenings.
His vineyard holdings of three hectares are mainly based around Corpeau and the Bourgogne Blanc Cote d’Or ‘Les Champs Huillier’ is a particular highlight.
Lazy writing, but this really is a baby Puligny Montrachet, that is it has characteristics reminiscent of a young Puligny-Montrachet wine, the prestigious white Burgundy known for its minerality, elegance, and potential for aging.
As expected then, the wine is bright and crisp, and has subtle citrus and mineral notes, with I reckon potential for developing richer, more complex flavors as it ages.
Wonderful value for money, I am really excited about adding this wine.
White melon, fleshy nectarine and ripe toasted pineapple on the nose. Savoury layers of cheese rind, smoke and nutmeg.
