Château La Picherie is located on the excellent argilo-calcaire plateau of Montagne, just a short drive north of Saint-Émilion. This elevated terroir protects the vines from frost, a valuable advantage in recent years. The estate is owned by Rodolphe Gimberteau, who also manages Mayne Graves and La Courolle, and benefits from the expertise of oenologist Thomas Duclos, known for his work at Troplong Mondot, Beau Séjour Bécot, and Canon.

Its so tough these days to get a really top quality merlot-led claret with enough depth and complexity to compete against wines from other parts of the world at lower prices.

This wine delivers in spades and sits discreetly on some lovely French led lists around London.
