“La Dame de Onze Heures” translating to “Lady of the Eleven Hours” is one of Delhommeau’s premium offerings, and the name references the long harvesting process allowing the grapes to reach their ideal ripeness. Just south of Nantes in the commune of Monnières, the soils are predominantly gabbro and gneiss, producing a unique minerality, unlike much of Muscadet which is dominated by granite. There is a real breadth to the palate and richness to the fruit that marks it apart from its peers and we heartily recommend this as a Whitfield Wines house wine.
Pale gold with a light greenish tint, these wines capture the essence of Muscadet perfectly — there’s freshness, minerality and a wonderful saline quality, and a playful zestiness from green apples.
The Delhommeau family have been involved in the tradition of winemaking in the Muscadet region, spanning several generations. Michel Delhommeau took the helm of the family estate in the late 20th century, shifting the focus toward producing wines of exceptional quality, elevating the region's reputation beyond its historical association with simple, everyday wines. Today, the estate is recognised as one of the leading producers in the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation. Michel's son, Nicolas Delhommeau, now continues the family legacy, overseeing the estate's ongoing success.
