An acclaimed rosé found afar in the Var region of Provence, don't be mistaken in thinking that the low price means low quality. This refined, understated, versatile wine is a staple entry-level Whitfield Wines. Buy-in-size-or-in-huge bottles; at this reduced price, it should be snapped up and made ready for the summer months.

Totally moreish, pale coloured, and packed with flavour rosé, the grapes are harvested during the gentle coolness of the evening, and are cold-pressed after minimal hours of skin contact, preserving their red fruit aromatics and elegant light pink hues. While not overly complex, there is a hidden depth through subtle spice notes; its cleansing acidity, juicy mid-palate and stony texture make this pair well with spiced foods and as a suitable companion for varieties of summer dishes. The wine of course can be drunk without food, and make for an apéritif.

The name ‘Triennes’ honours the Bacchanalian triennial festivities held during the Roman Empire, honouring Bacchus the God of Wine and Vineyards; additionally, the name recognises the three partners forming Domaine de Triennes.

In 1989, renowned Burgundian winemakers, Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac, and Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée–Conti, together with their Parisian friend, Michel Macaux, went in search of new vineyards in the South of France, setting their sights on the mountainous terrain of the Var region in Provence; rich with clay and limestone soils, they believed great wines could be created here. Domaine de Triennes progressed, transforming the region into an admirable wine-producing area in Southern France. Today, the estate is overseen by Jeremy Seysses, the son of Jacques Seysses.
