Another addition to the Whitfield Wines list of good value burgundy gems, this one from Santenay, and hugely popular since we launched it at the beginning of the year (insert year). Santenay is an underrated Cru that is starting to show real class and great value for Burgundy lovers. The winsome nose, full of delicate red fruit is all charm, but the palate has real savour and great energy. A great find from a village that is still off the radar.

Popping up on all sorts of restaurant lists that need well priced burgundy of the right quality and huge appeal, expect this to be a key name on the Whitfield Wine list. This bottle is one to always have in the cellar.

Elegant and medium-bodied, this wine offers aromas of red berries and fruits, complemented by subtle hints of earth, spice, and floral notes. Its fresh acidity is balanced by fine tannins, with a clean mineral finish, pairing well with light meats such as poultry and veal, rich meats like duck, mushroom dishes, or a charcuterie platter.

Domaine Regnard, founded by Zéphir Regnard in 1860, has established itself as a prestigious name in Chablis winemaking, situated in the heart of the Maranges appellation, located in the southern part of Burgundy. While the domaine is primarily celebrated for its exceptional Chablis wines, it has also expanded into producing Santenay Rouge, showcasing the rich diversity of Burgundy’s terroir. Since 2010, Florian Regnard, the fourth generation of the family, has represented the domaine and has been recognized as the ‘Best Young Winemaker’ in the Côte de Beaune.
