“Petite Arvine has always been the white grape variety to which we are undoubtedly most attached.” — Ottin
The Petite Arvine, a vine of Swiss origin, was introduced to the Aosta Valley in the 1970s by the canons of the Great St Bernard, finding remarkable expression in this mountain-crafted wine. Ottin’s 2023 vintage is a compelling example—deeply mineral, aromatically vibrant, and savoury in depth. It captures the essence of its northern Alpine terroir with finesse, reflecting both the purity of high-altitude vineyards and the precision of Ottin’s artisanal approach.
Captivating and complex, this wine is immediately expressive—explosive on the nose with a bouquet of tropical and citrus fruits, mountain herbs, and wildflowers over a stony, mineral backbone. On the palate, it delivers a dynamic interplay of strength, tension, and balance, offering both vibrancy and precision.
The Ottin family have a deep connection with the land in the Aosta Valley through livestock and farming. Cultivating grapes in the late 1980s and selling his grapes, Elio Ottin began bottling his own wine in 2007, crafting unique wines reflecting the character of the Aosta Valley, where the wines benefits from the high altitude and sunny slopes with sea winds for freshness and salinity. The vines are grown on pergolas and the grapes here produce medium bodied, aromatic wines.
