A serious Pinot Noir that punches well above its weight, this village-level wine from the esteemed Domaine Henri Gouges offers rare depth, balance, and aging potential—all at a fraction of grand cru prices. Elegant, expressive, and versatile, it delivers true Burgundy character with everyday appeal.
Elegant and well-balanced, this Pinot Noir offers bright red fruit—cherry, raspberry, and strawberry—layered with subtle spice and earthy depth. With a smooth, gently building finish, it shows more harmony and finesse than previous vintages—a refined expression of Burgundy’s classic style.
Founded by Henri Gouges in 1919–20, the estate is now in the hands of fourth-generation winemakers Gregory and Antoine Gouges. A visionary of his time, Henri was among the first in Burgundy to bottle his own wines, defying the negociant model by 1930. His influence extended well beyond the vineyard, serving as president of the Burgundy Syndicate, helped shape the AOC system in the 1930s, and was instrumental in preserving the identity of Nuits-Saint-Georges by opposing its reclassification to grand cru status. Today, the estate remains steadfastly dedicated to Pinot Noir.
