A classic Barolo that sits beautifully on a tight wine list as it offers incredibly attractive value for money, drinks perfectly in 2019 (but can be cellared, of course) and has style and elegance in abundance, whilst giving the wonderful subtlety you would expect from Cannubi wines. Snap this up for a proper treat.
Its ruby red hue, with garnet nuances, anticipates an aromatic bouquet that manifests itself with aromas of red fruits, accompanied by notes of spices, tobacco and woody hints. On the palate, the wine is round and harmonious, with a velvety texture that expertly balances its elements. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a long-lasting and satisfying impression.
The wine pairs deliciously with braised meats, game, truffles, and aged cheeses, but most of all, one can’t help but delight in the thought of beef braised in Barolo wine for a few hours, in the depths of winter.
Founded in 1897 by brothers Serio and Battista Borgogno, the winery has remained in family hands, committed to crafting high-quality Barolo wines in the heart of Italy's Langhe region. Perched on a hilltop in Barolo’s renowned Cannubi vineyard, the estate cultivates some of the finest Nebbiolo grapes, producing its signature and highly prized Cannubi Barolo.
