Wow, the glamour. One of two new Whitfield Wines from the Gaja stable, this wine offers a wonderful introduction to the Tuscan wines produced by one of Piedmont`s greatest wineries.

Promis offers the elegance and suppleness of Merlot and Syrah, complemented by the vibrant structure of Sangiovese, Tuscany’s emblematic grape.

Gaja Promis Ca`Marcanda is a medium- to full-bodied Supertuscan red wine from the Bolgheri sub-region of Tuscany, central Italy.

The wine is an elegant blend of Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese for which each grape variety is fermented and macerated separately for around 15 days. After 12 months of oak ageing, the components are blended. The resulting wine shows aromas of black cherries and black plums. It is complex and deeper on the nose, with enticing notes of sandalwood and essential oils.

Expect a mix of red and black fruits like cherries, raspberries, and plums, with spicy and smoky nuances. Some might also detect hints of mint and liquorice. Floral notes of wild rose and violet can also be present, along with earthy tones of maritime pine and eucalyptus.
The wine is juicy and harmonious, with a smooth, integrated tannic structure. Flavours of plum, blackberry, and subtle hints of cocoa and vanilla are common. The tannins are described as velvety and well-structured.

Gaja's Ca' Marcanda Estate makes Promis. Gaja purchased this Tuscan estate in 1996, marking their second Tuscan venture.
