Just when you think you know your Chianti, we must advise that this is no ordinary Chianti—while Sangiovese leads, the subtle inclusion of Canaiolo and Syrah adds remarkable depth, complexity, and a silky smoothness that elevates it beyond the traditional style, setting it apart from more traditional Chianti expressions.
Greeted by bright ruby with aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries, and soft violet flowers, you’ll notice gentle hints of earth and spice. On the palate, it’s smooth and round, with fresh acidity and fine tannins. Medium-bodied and well-balanced, it finishes long and elegant with a touch of minerality.
Isole e Olena’s history reflects the De Marchi family’s passion for advancing Chianti Classico. Founded in 1956 by Francesco De Marchi through the merger of two historic estates—“Isole” from the 18th century and “Olena” dating back to the 12th century—the winery is located near Castellina in Chianti. In 1976, Francesco’s son Paolo, an expert in agriculture and oenology, took over and transformed the estate by refining local grape quality, especially the Sangiovese, playing a key role in Chianti Classico’s quality revival. In 2022, the French luxury group EPI acquired the estate, with Paolo actively involved, preserving its tradition and commitment to excellence.
