So excited to be able to add this wine at Whitfield Wines! Touriga Nacional, Portugal’s most iconic grape variety is a brilliant example of the incredible quality coming from Portugal, currently. It is of incredible value, too, with wines of this quality and poise from the Douro being much more expensive.
It was on the opening list at Dorian, and was in the top selling list at Guinea Grill, the infamous steak restaurant off Berkeley Square. The wine is also on the list at The Devonshire and Arlington.
This is classic Touriga, but with lovely freshness that makes it incredible with any grilled steaks. The vineyard's proximity to the ocean lends the wine this moreish sophistication. It's a very intense, garnet coloured wine; very vivid and structured on the palate, through its freshness and richness in tannins, resulting in a long and harmonious finish.
Produced by Artur Gamas near Ericeira in western Portugal, the Quinta da Boa Esperança estate is ideally located near the Atlantic Ocean.
This coastal proximity moderates the climate, creating perfect conditions for growing premium grapes. Established in 2014, the young winery quickly gained recognition for producing quality wines, blending indigenous Portuguese grape varieties with modern viticultural techniques.
