If you adore the spirit of a Tuscan summer, this is a delightful bottle to savour during the season, or on those long, dark winter evenings when you yearn to relive those sunny memories.
The Sesti reds may be dominant in their reputation and production, however, this Sauvignon Blanc is equally as special for those looking for a white wine alternative from this wonderful producer. What makes this wine special is that Sauvignon Blanc is uncommon in the region, making it a unique white wine varietal from Tuscany.
You’ve got to be seasoned in both reds and whites in the region to begin your journey as a Tuscan wine connoisseur. I know how easy it can be to get stuck into the Tuscan reds, so give this white a try.
Sauvignon Blanc is a rare variety in Tuscany, but the Sesti estate’s coastal influence has benefited the grape, contributing towards its minerality and producing a clean, crisp, and refreshing wine. Exciting fruity notes of green apple, citrus, and tropical fruits like pineapple and passionfruit, there are subtle herbal notes of tarragon and celery seeds. Delicious.
What started as neighbourly help assisting in the nearby vineyards and wineries soon led Giuseppe Sesti to discover his own passion and talent for winemaking, planting his own vines at Castello di Argiano in 1991. The progress he has made in such a short time is staggering, and the Sesti wines are now widely acknowledged to be, quite simply, some of the finest Montalcino has to offer.
Having studied astronomy, it is not surprising that many of his winemaking processes follow the lunar cycle. Giuseppe Sesti has succeeded in establishing an extremely impressive international reputation in the world of winemaking.
