What makes the Villa di Capezzana Carmignano special is its combination of tradition, quality, and aging potential. It’s crafted from a historic Tuscan estate with organic practices, blending Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon to create a richly layered, elegant wine. Balancing immediate approachability and long-term cellaring potential, together with steady praise from the industry, makes it remarkable Carmignano.
A refined, elegant, full-bodied ruby red with bright youthful highlights. The expressive nose blends vibrant cherry, black raspberry, violet, dried rose, rich coffee, and soft vanilla. Smooth and structured on the palate, with ripe red fruit, plum, warm spice, sage, supple leather, and earthy minerality. Balanced acidity and fine-grained tannins lead to a juicy, poised, and lingering finish with a subtle salinity and age-worthy austerity.
Tenuta di Capezzana is one of Tuscany’s oldest and most respected wineries, with roots dating back over 1,200 years to a 804 AD document referencing its vineyards and olive groves. The modern estate was established in 1920 when Count Alessandro Contini Bonacossi acquired and expanded it. His son Ugo modernized the estate from 1945 onwards.
Today, the winery is run by the fourth and fifth generations of the Contini Bonacossi family, with Beatrice managing sales, Benedetta as winemaker, and Filippo overseeing olive oil production and finance.
