2019 Diego Conterno Ferrione Barbera d'Alba Piedmont

This single-vineyard Barbera is magnificent, and it offers a unique opportunity to taste the famous Conterno magic for a song. With the nose perfumed by classic Piemontese notes of  juicy black cherries and plum, a mouthwatering palate with blackberries, raspberries, cedar, and spice, it's a a stunner from one of Piedmont’s greatest wine-producing families.

Deep ruby-purple. Classic fleshy aromas of black cherry and Damson plum are paired with notes of violets, salvia, sumac, and a touch of balsam. Juicy and intense, the palate is wrapped in chewy, fruit leather tannins. Tangy blackberry and raspberry flavors are laced with cedar and spice, finishing with a hint of pepper. Enjoyable on its own for its fruity intensity, but this is perfectly structured to pair with pizza, pasta, or anything with a red sauce.
