Domaine de Triennes, Rosé, Méditerranée (Provence) 2022
So this is the Whitfield Wines entry level, buy-in-size-or-in-huge bottles, totally moreish, pale coloured and packed with flavour rosé . It is a staple and at this reduced price, should be snapped up and made ready for the summer months.
Not overly complex, but it makes up for that in terms of intensity, juiciness and fruit forward.
Don't be mistaken in thinking that the low price means low quality. This is wine made in a partnership between Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac, Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and a mutual friend, Michel Macaux. Very serious wine makers with reputations to protect.
This rosé is mostly Cinsault, with Grenache, Syrah and Merlot for seasoning. The pale colour, forward strawberry fruit and zingy finish make this the solution for any sunny occasion, but there is hidden depth here. Subtle spice notes and a juicy mid-palate make it ideal for spiced food; its cleansing acidity and stony texture pair really well with all sorts of summer foods. The wine of course can be drunk without food...
Available in magnums and double magnums too.
