Roberto Sarotto Langhe DOC Arneis Runcneuv 2022
Centuries ago, Arneis grapes were planted next to the noble Nebbiolo vines in Barolo and Langhe to give Piedmont bird life something alternative to feast upon. In modern times, Arneis wines are enthusiastically quaffed in the enotecas of Turin as if nothing much has changed.
Roberto Sarotto's Runcneuv comes from old Arneis vines grown in Nevigle, east of Asti. The grapes are given a few hours maceration on the skins, and the wine remains on its lees for three to four months in stainless steel tanks. It is fragrant and lively, with delicious minerality on the finish. Classy, balanced and a snip at this price.
The wines have been going down well with those that like full-bodied and rich whites.
