Domaine la Soumade, Rasteau Villages 2021

From Southern Rhône comes grenache at its very best with Châteauneuf-du-Pape of course (and as many as 12 other varietals) and in Rasteau nearby I have found equally wonderful wines at a fraction of the price.

Robert Parker described the estate as "The superstar of Rasteau… drop-dead delicious red wines."

This is a beautiful, perfect expression of plump juicy warming Grenache. This is the village level wine, and there is no need to look further in Rasteau. André Roméro is the legendary wine maker, now joined by his son and nephew. These are tiny yields, the grapes are 100% hand picked and the selective picking and extraordinary vinification process would suggest a product of twice the price.
