Whitfield Wines just turned four, and to celebrate, the website has a new look. Take a look around, you will find it easy to peruse and (hopefully) simple to order a case of six (you can even subscribe to your favourites for regular deliveries).
If you have a moment have a look at the new restaurant pages, featuring some favourite wines from remarkable restaurants. More of these to come as we continue to showcase 'restaurant wines at home', as we have since 2021.
It feels poignant to be launching the new site with a little feature on the wines of the Sesti family. With the sad passing of her father Gigi in 2024, Elisa Sesti is now fully at the helm, continuing to craft some of the most gorgeous, ethereal Sangiovese wines in this heavenly corner of Tuscany. I first encountered the wines at Hammersmith's River Cafe in 2009 and have been hooked ever since.
For the first time, I am showing their brilliantly moreish Sauvignon Blanc, the wine which Elisa started making to 'give the family something to drink before dinner'. Also new to us is the classy IGT, great value expression of Sangiovese called 'Grangiovese' (made famous at by the late Andrew Edmunds in his eponymous Soho restaurant); for a treat, the elegant 2022 Rosso di Montalcino is here; and finally the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino for a blow out.
